Dreams Are Meant to be Lived, Passions Meant to be Followed

I’m a firm believer in that things happening for a reason, whether good or bad. I also believe that when you focus on the positives in life, positive things will happen to you. The reason I believe these things is because for the last 2 years, things have been happening to me, leading me closer to fulfilling my passion, my purpose. How? I started following my gut and doing what I truly wanted to do. I started doing things that made me happy.

First thing I chose to start doing again was horseback riding. I used to ride as a kid and it has always been one of my favorite things to do, so I did it. I Googled barns around my area, picked one and scheduled a lesson and now 2 years later I am still riding with the same trainer who has now become a friend. I look at horseback riding as my therapy. When I am on a horse, every problem I may be having, every anxiety I’m experiencing just disappears. There is just me and the horse for that amount of time and it’s everything I need for that day.

Second thing, I quit my job and went back to school full time so I could one day have a career I am passionate about. Talk about a leap of faith! I up and left a secure job I had been working for 3 years to go back to undergraduate school for Environmental Studies. I knew in my heart and soul that I should be working for the environment but I never knew how to get there. I was terrified and excited and so I jumped. Best choice ever. I was 29 years old back in the classroom being taught by some professors younger than me but I was in my glory. Nerd status all the way. This was what I was meant to be doing. I was surrounded by like-minded individuals of various ages, all working towards the same goal so that we could all one day help the planet, in some way or another. Three semesters later I have graduated with my second Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies and am one step closer everyday to fulfilling my dreams.

Third thing, I took control of my health and began helping others get control of theirs. Despite any outside negative opinion of Beachbody coaching, it has changed me into the best me I could be. I’m not exaggerating, I truly believe this. Since I took the plunge to join my friend in coaching I have become stronger mentally and physically. I read and listen to personal development daily, I have made friends whose support was previously unimaginable, and I help others…this coaching isn’t just about selling Shakeology to people and that be that. There is so much more to it that I never realized. I have become such a positive thinker, I have come to understand that with all the bullshit life throws in our way, there is ALWAYS something good to come from it. I never fully saw it all until I started coaching and my view on life and following my dreams has grown and is actually happening. I am following my dreams and they are coming true….can you say that?

I have learned to drop my excuses, take responsibility for my actions and decisions and do what I want. Something as simple as word choice can make a world of difference. For instance, I was asked in an interview recently, “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” and I first began with “hopefully,” and then I stopped and said, “No, I won’t use the word hopefully because that implies there’s a chance it won’t happen, instead let me say, in 5 years I will be….” (sidenote, I got the job).

What is it that you WANT in life? When you drop every excuse, what is it that you would be doing? What are the excuses you’re spewing as to why you’re not doing it? What do you TRULY want to do? Think about it. It’s not as easy as you think, but if you can find it, you have to do what it takes to make it happen.

Dreams are meant to be lived, passions meant to be followed.
