Stop Making Excuses. Train Your Brain

Do you go to bed with great plans of eating healthy and working out only to wake up and find anything to avoid and justify NOT doing it?

The world of excuses.

The least imaginative person is capable of making the most extraordinary excuse to get out of something they don't want to do. Not enough time is usually the top runner, especially when it comes to exercising. It truly is incredible how hard some people fight to avoid having to exercise, especially when you feel BETTER after you do! Why do we make excuses to avoid something that makes us feel good? Our minds have been trained to excuse our bodies from what they vitally need. MOVEMENT! Something as little as a 20 minute walk outside can do wonders if you spend most of your day sitting. If you can find the time to watch a few hours of television a day, you can find the time to exercise.

Granted, there are many people that really are non-stop all day, that finding that little extra time is really hard, but isn't your health worth it? Exercising daily gives you natural energy, its makes you feel happier (ever hear of runner's high?), not to mention the obvious that your body needs you to exercise, especially in a society where obesity is so severe and the typical 40 hour work week is spent behind a desk, slowly (yet quickly) hindering your body.

I spent 3 years working a desk job and the pain I developed in my hips, back and neck were no joke! At 27 years old my hip flexors were so tight it hurt to walk, my joints cracked when I moved and my back and neck ached all the time. This is not natural! One year away from that desk job and 3 months into committed daily exercising, I no longer crack or ache (unless it's sore muscles from my work out which is good pain).

I'm not one without excuses either! There are many days where my mind starts spewing out reasons to not exercise, but I've been learning to ignore them. They say it takes 21 days to form or break a habit, I say it's longer, but 21 days is a great start! Our minds need to be trained to stop making excuses. We need to strengthen our will power to keep moving forward, stop giving up! Keeping up a new routine for 21 days is HARD, but once you reach that 21st day, the feeling of accomplishment is incredible.
